USCCA Women's Handgun and Self Defense Fundamentals

This certification course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and both experienced and novice shooters. This is a one day, eight-hour certificate course. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. This course will also include a range portion where you can employ the fundamentals and skills learned. Students should expect to shoot between 50 and 100 rounds in the range portion.


At the end of this class you should be able to:

  • Choose a firearm based on action type, size, caliber, and capacity that is best suited for you and what the intended use of the firearm is

  • Perform the fundamentals of shooting including sight alignment, grip, and stance.

  • Situational Awareness and conflict avoidance

  • Safely handle a firearm using the fundamental safety rules

  • Store a firearm properly such that it is protected from unauthorized use

  • Know the physiology of a violent encounter

  • Know local laws regarding concealed carry and the use of deadly force

**Registration is open to law abiding U.S. Citizens over the age of 18 or with a signed parental consent form anyone over the age of 16.**
